Introduction

"IDEAL Art Garden" (2021-2023) is a project funded by the Arts Development Fund for People with Disabilities of the Social Welfare Department. We believe that everyone has undiscovered talents and the potential of individuals with intellectual disabilities may be even greater than ordinaries. 

  IDEAL aims to provide platform and opportunities for intellectually disabled individuals to demonstrate and develop their talents, and recruit volunteers with artistic talents or potential in leadership as “ART Buddy” in one-to-one training with intellectually disabled person. By assisting individuals with intellectual disabilities in training, ART Buddy inspire the artistic potential of intellectually disabled people. Cooperation between ART Buddy and intellectually disabled people in artistic creation promotes social inclusion

Objectives:

• Explore the artistic talents of individuals with intellectual disabilities by organizing four continuous art projects (percussion, singing, painting and dancing).
• Recruit experienced tutors to cultivate interests of individuals with intellectual disabilities in arts and expend their artistic knowledge based on their ability. 
• Continuous training allows students to improve their abilities step by step.
• The development of talents can build the self-confidence of individuals with intellectual disabilities.
• Recruit volunteers to assist people with intellectual disabilities in the training. From this program, volunteers can enhance their understanding of intellectual disabilities through communication with students and thereby establish an inclusive relationship.
• Demonstrate the artistic talents of individuals with intellectual disabilities to the public in exhibition.
